There has been a long debate as to whether king Arthur really existed. If he truly did it was believed to be somewhere in the 5th or 6th centruly.The legend of king Arthur peaked and wanted over the centuries and made another strong appearance in sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur which was published in 1485.Some evidence points to him being a solider while other evidence points to him being a king. The first viable written evidence of his existence showed up in the 9th century in a book called Historia Brittonum.Whether or not king Arthur really existed is still up for debate but his legend still lives on. During the middle ages the chrisitans of Europe used to go to the Holy Land for the purpose of visiting the tomb of Christ and other sacred place.About the year of 1095 in Amiens France, there lived a monk known as peter the hermit. Peter was present at a council of clergy and people held at the Clermont. Pope Urban II made a speech and begged the people to rescue the Holy land.Soon before the first crusade went to war peter had gather a small army to go and weaken their enemies before the crusades show up.Dircetly after the council Peter the hermit had began to preach in favor of a war against the Turks.He preached in churches, on the streets, and wherever he could gather up an audience. Peter soon set off to France, and Germany.
